Computing – Option

Cambridge National Certificate I.T.

If students want to further develop their knowledge and skills in IT during Year 10 and 11 then they have to nominate it as an option.

  • Certificated by the Oxford Cambridge and RSA examination board
  • The assessment process recognises your strengths. Good performance in some units will make up for weaker performance in others
  • There is no requirement to get a particular grade in the examined unit to pass overall if sufficient grades have been achieved in the projects.
  • Provides skills in Augmented Reality
  • Opportunities to achieve higher grades of Merit or Distinction
  • Students do not have to own a PC or laptop
  • Maplewell Hall School has excellent I.T. facilities that not all schools have. Studying this qualification gives students even greater access to these.

The course is divided into three parts.

Studying this subject will assist in enhancing learning for all subjects.

This qualification will help in preparing for Maplewell Sixth Form where I.T. is used in various subjects. It will also prepare for studying an I.T. qualification at sixth form where a broader range of I.T. qualification can be studied.
This qualification opens up many career paths in the industry of Computing itself and also many others e.g. Finance, Engineering, Media, Military, Security, Architecture and Healthcare. It will also assist students getting involved in a new business.
