The MayPedalWell Sportive is a non-competitive cycling event being held on Sunday 14th May to help raise funds to send a group of our students half-way round the world to work at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand in October. This is the school’s most ambitious trip ever and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our young people.
This is the centerpiece of
The Maplewell Hall School May Fete, Sunday 14th May 2023
Riders are welcome to stay and enjoy the event once they have completed their ride. All money raised will go towards next years Thailand trip, and help fund 18 special needs students' volunteering project at an elephant sanctuary.
MayPedalWell riders taking part in the full
75-mile challenge will tackle two classic climbs
(for Leicestershire at least!):
Burrough Hill and Beacon Hill.
The route takes riders through the best Leicestershire has to offer in the Charnwood, Melton and Harborough boroughs, and leaves Leicestershire briefly to visit Rutland, the country's smallest county.
There are overlapping 25-mile and 50-mile options for less experienced riders.
Strava data for each route:
25 miles - 25.3 miles. 1825ft/556m ascent
50 miles - 50.6 miles. 3410ft/1039m ascent
75 miles - 75 miles. 5386ft/1641m ascent
All three routes, including information about marshalling and refreshment points, as well as identified hazards (almost exclusively Cattle grids) that riders will encounter along the way can be found here:
